About the Book

This simple story is about a group of friends meeting for a game of cricket. Luke, the human in the story, is hit by the cricket ball, and the story explains how he gets better after being treated with each of the flowers in Rescue Remedy.

In total, there are thirty-eight Bach Flower Remedies, but in this story there are eight: five flowers in Rescue Remedy, and three others to help in the story. Each flower character has a different personality. The essence of the flower remedy will heal the person who is displaying the negative qualities of that character. The story is written in Haiku format, which is rhyming.

About the Author

In writing this book I thought I could introduce children to the world of alternative medicine by creating interesting characters that would resemble the plants from which the remedies are made. I hope that children can relate the characters to the plants they see around them.

I initially constructed the plant characters using the computer with my very limited graphic design knowledge but I did not feel that I had established a close relationship with them so I decided to paint the characters in oils. As I did this they became alive in front of my eyes and I developed a connection with them.

I like the trees and rocks created by various artists particularly David Hockney, Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, Fred Williams, Picasso, Monet, Jala Prendes, Dali, Freida Kahlo and Munch. They inspired me to paint similar trees, rocks and the sun in the scenes of the story. Also Man Ray’s famous photo of lips floating in the sky inspired me to paint the lips on Vine.

I am a Homeopath and Herbalist and have a practice at Cronulla, Sydney, Australia.

I use Bach Flowers in my practice. They are easy to use and self prescribe.
