About the Book

Going to the dentist for the first time can be a bit daunting. New sounds, new sights and smells are so much to cope with especially if future work is needed to be done. Join Tomas and his friend Norbit as he experiences the “adventure” of going to the dentist for the first time as he lets his imagination run wild, then discovers the true meaning and different instruments used during his visit.

About the Author

I am a mother of 4 children living and working in a small country town of Stanthorpe, situated in the wine and fruit region on the Queensland and New South Border. I have been working with children and their parents in the Dental field for over 20 years in both the private sector and in Queensland Health (Government System). I have attended many schools, child care centers and kindys, reading to the children and conducting parent information sessions showing and explaining - in a hands on context – the instruments and special clothing used in the dental setting, as well as oral health promotion and information.

I graduated as a School Dental Therapist in Brisbane in 1988 in which time I worked within the School Dental Service working in the mobile dental vans on location at all schools in the district offering free dental treatment to all school children and preschoolers.

I returned to University to further my academic qualifications in 2005, becoming an Oral Health Therapist, giving me dual qualifications as Dental Therapist and Hygienist.

I truly believe this book will help introduce children to their first dental visit. Giving parents a helpful tool in explaining the dental experience. Going to the dentist can be a bit daunting. New sounds, new sights and smells can be so much to cope with especially if future work is needed to be done. This book will help to explain the dental setting with their child to ensure a positive first experience.
