I ran, calling to the boy. He disappeared beneath the water. I continued running, my heart racing as I looked for a sign of him. I stopped, listening for his cry. A feather floated past. It must be the one I gave him. I looked back up the river and saw a small figure resting against a large boulder. My body trembled as I frantically looked for something to help me rescue the boy from the rushing water. I jumped in, fighting the rapids encircling my body. The water was cold and swift. I could see him just a few feet away. Suddenly, I slipped into a hole.
