The son’s father returned from war with hopes of working the land but due to circumstances beyond his control he had to settle on becoming a rabbiter. His Father after suffering many setbacks after the Second World War, ended up being a Rabbiter to support the family. This young boys story shows the close connection to family and the land. After moving ten times in fifteen years, what could have been a disadvantage instead propelled this young man to be independent, self reliant, self sufficient and a forward thinker. He learnt from an early age to trust his own judgment and to try his hand at anything that came his way. The author went on to have many vocations during his lifetime. He was diligent, forthright and respected by all of his employees and employers. The author married a woman that embraced his free spirit and encouraged him to pursue his dreams.
