About the Book
Danat is a young traveler, not bound by time or place, when he is drawn to a small town. Haunted by the devastation of war and the loss of his immediate family, his path soon crosses with that of an aging carpenter who agrees to take him on as his apprentice and gifts him with a special pendant. But soon it becomes evident that the carpenter is also a teacher who will lead him on a spiritual journey to heal, grow, and learn about the power of community. When Danat hears about a looming army invasion and their plan to destroy the town and steal a treasure, a chain of events unfolds that leaves many townspeople dead and Danat wondering where he truly belongs. As the carpenter guides him to master his ego and inner obstacles to understand his true purpose, the surviving townspeople realize they must flee all they know. Along the way to enlightenment, Danat meets Aryel, a strong leader who is also learning about herself in the face of trauma and self-doubt and Solomon, a twelve-year-old trailblazer guided by innocence and grace. Set against the backdrop of war in the ancient Middle East, this tale explores the relationship between a young man and a wise sage who helps him and others discover and live a path of inner peace and harmonious community.
