INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Your “Choosing Your Life” Journey
We all have a vision of what we want our lives to be, yet reality often falls short. We encounter experiences such as a painful breakup, health issues, or a difficult life transition that turn our lives upside down. For some, as it was for me, it is the quiet realization that we haven’t met the milestones we envisioned. These experiences leave us feeling lost and overwhelmed, robbed of joy and peace. Suddenly, our lives seem unfulfilled and without purpose. We find ourselves stuck trying to fix things we can’t control, which in turn steals our energy away from the life we desire. We wish things could be different. We wish we could avoid the pain. We feel tired of fighting and don’t know what to do next.
I can certainly remember a time in my life when I felt this way, questioning why the things I wanted so deeply at the very core of my soul, simply weren’t happening for me. There I was, in my late thirties, still single, longing for a loving husband and a family of my own. Although I now know that there was nothing wrong with that, at the time, I just couldn’t understand why many of my friends were married with children, while I was still there waiting, hoping that it would come to me as well. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong and kept thinking: “Why is this happening to me?” and “When is it going to be my turn?” On paper, my life was fine: I was healthy and successful, but my focus on what was missing created a constant, underlying pain. Little did I know that life was not happening to me; it was happening for me. There were things I needed to experience to lead me to what I now feel is my life purpose: to inspire and empower others.
I vividly recall a conversation with a dear friend whose words have stayed with me forever: “We choose our life.” Upon hearing that, I remember feeling quite upset at first. It almost felt like a slap in the face. The idea that I was choosing what was happening to me was hard to accept. How could I be responsible for not having met the right person?
Today, I feel very differently. I am here to tell you that we do choose our lives. I now know that the power to create the life we desire lies within us. How do I know? Because I am now on the other side of what kept me from living my dream life. I now have the family that I have always wanted. My husband and I now own a house with a view of a river, exactly like I had drawn it in a visualization workbook years ago. Although I got married at the age of forty-four, God gave me the children I always wanted in ways that I could never have imagined. Most of all, I now carry a sense of peace within me, regardless of circumstances.
My personal life journey, particularly the internal struggles I encountered along the way, led me to understand that every day, each of us is offered a simple yet profound choice: to shape our life intentionally or to allow it to unfold by default.
Yes, it’s true that life does happen, and we cannot always control what shows up in our lives. However, we have total control over how we perceive and respond to it. Every single choice we make, consciously or unconsciously, contributes to what we attract in our lives. This is truly where the power resides, and once we become aware of that power, and begin using it, we enter the path leading to the unfolding of miracles in our lives.
I look back at my life, now at the age of sixty-five, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I know that if everything had happened in my own timing, I would not be here writing this book for you today.
In fact, I am forever grateful for the emotional pain that I experienced because it led me to embark on a personal journey where I discovered the principles that I am about to share with you in this book. By integrating these principles into my life, I not only healed myself and manifested the life I’ve always wanted, but I was also inspired to become a therapist, where I’ve been privileged to guide others as they do the inner work to transform their own lives.
The results I have seen, both for myself and for my clients, have been more than I could have ever imagined or thought possible. I know deep inside that life is now calling on me to inspire and empower you, the reader, to embark on your own Choosing Your Life journey with hope and confidence to see your life transformed as well.
Whether in my personal life or in my work with clients, I have witnessed how instrumental these principles are in shifting our mindset from lack to abundance, finding peace, and attracting desired outcomes. Personally, I can attest that living by these principles changes the way we move through life. It is not that nothing ever affects me, but rather that I no longer let circumstances dictate my life. I also know that there is a higher purpose at play, and I embrace with love what comes my way. Every day, I thank God for my life. Although it is ordinary, it always feels extraordinary. It is my greatest wish that it becomes the same for you.
You see, this book is not simply about wishful thinking or fleeting optimism; it is about understanding and practicing conscious creation. Drawing from timeless philosophies, the Law of Attraction, and real-life stories, these eleven principles are designed to help you clarify your vision, dissolve limiting beliefs, and cultivate the mindset necessary for meaningful change.
