Winter, dark and deep. A million stars hanging low and cold in the sky, Watching me. Winter, dark and deep. Snow crunches beneath my feet, Wanting me to listen. Winter, dark and deep. Standing in between streetlights On the snow, looking at the sky, I see the glory of the Divine Embracing me in a blue/black cloak, Letting me know all is well. I am safe In winter, dark and deep. I am grateful for coffee in the morning because it helps me ease into my workday. Oh, coffee! That lovely brown liquid that fuels my morning. Smooth and silky, coffee gives me the boost I need in going from dead asleep to wide awake and ready to take on the day. The smell pulls me away from vague dreams to a hot cup of support for the rest of the morning. Blessed beans, soaked in water, to give us a jump start to our days. Michelle M. Skillen is a gatherer of wisdom. These gifts of gratitude, poems, and prayers came to her through meditation and listening to the still, small, voice that dwells within all of us. She lives with her husband in Colorado where Spirit speaks through the wind. She enjoys reading, writing, time with her children and grandchildren, and playing in the mountains.
