About the Book

Sackcloth and ashes were used in Old Testament Times as a symbol of mourning or repentance. When someone wanted to show a repentant heart He would often wear sackcloth and sit in ashes and put ashes on the top of his head. My poems are about a number of things that go along with this.


About the Author

Marie was born in 1938 in a very small town in western North Carolina. Her father was a minister and she was the youngest child of 11 children. Marie was married in 1956 and had five children. It was not a good marriage and got divorced after 25 years. She became a nurse in 1970 and have worked for 50 years. She just retired last year at the age of 81. She graduated from Southwestern Community in 1970. She had a couple of poem books published by Brentwood Christian Publishing, one in 1989 and one in 1990. She raised her children on her own my husband was away most of the time. She remarried her children were grown to a wonderful Christian man. They lived together for 29 years and he died in 2009. Marie's oldest daughter died in 2010 with a malignant brain tumor. Marie is living alone now and since retirement, she has done a lot of crafts. In the past, she used to do a lot of oil and acrylic paintings for her friends. She love writing poems about her Lord and Savior for He alone has kept her through all her life, through the good and the bad and she has so much to be thankful for. Her book of poems are written from her life experiences, especially about her first marriage and about her relationship with God. Marie usually just write what she is feeling at the time…
