“…. And that your joy may be complete.”
How can your joy be complete? What makes your joy to be complete?
From Jesus own point of view, as a believer, your joy will be complete when you speak and act within the realm of the supernatural. When you have faith, you can speak like in the manner and authority of God over your circumstances and what you speak will come to pass. This is no magic power; it is the power of the Spirit of God in every man. God is pleased when you use His divine power in a positive dispensation that glorifies His name.
An incident took place in December 2010 in Germany. It was on a Friday evening; I came home from work and my wife was carrying on her back our seven months old son shivering with 38,4 body temperature. As soon as I stepped into the house, she was already stepping down to meet me at the door with her face full of anxiety. “Dika is ill, she told me; I was just waiting for you to come back so that I can take him to the hospital” The rest of our children were in their rooms upstairs. So, what I did? In my spirit, I declined to accept my little boy being sick on Friday evening which was usually for our Friday Prayer meeting. I calmly dropped my bag, removed my jacket and took our son from my wife and headed straight into our prayer room. Once inside the prayer room, I closed the door and started singing and dancing for Jesus with the baby on my chest. I did not sing for a long time and Dika stopped crying and the next thing I noticed was that he slept off as I continued singing, dancing and praising God.
After about 45 minutes of worship, I was exhausted and sat down to read the Bible; in the process my son was awake and started shifting and pushing me to let him on the floor which I did and immediately he began to play and his body temperature has returned to normal as the fever was all gone and gone for good. And my joy was made complete as Jesus promised that he has come that our joy will be full. This is one example of exercising the power of the Spirit of God. The fever did not come back, my son was made well by faith in God and His son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. This is the teaching of the Gospel of Jesus, using and practising the word of God to do good, show charity, love and care; to save lives not to terminate lives. ,” that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11)
Jesus wants the joy of the LORD to be in us so that our own joy will be complete. That my son became well again without going to any ambulance and emergency clinic on a Friday night made the joy of my wife, myself and all my children to be complete. Praise God. The power of God to heal is not restricted to the clergy. It is available to all who believe.
One more scripture I will use here to highlight on the things that help believers to live victoriously:
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9)
The believer is not under the earth-bound restriction. You are not expected to allow Demons, principalities and powers in the space, land and sea to control you or influence your earthly situations. The joy of a true child of God will be full and complete when the person can stand firm and proclaim in the power and the authority of God the creator. You can exercise the power of God to show mercy, power of God to love, to be compassionate, to be honest and truthful, to hate and avoid evil. Abiding in these powers of God enable the believer to exercise supernatural powers. This however should exclude any magical acts. God is not a magician but in a situation of disorderliness He can restore order. Jesus did it rampantly at various stages during his ministry on earth because God was with him. Jesus calmed down the raging storm, he raised the dead back to life. He restored the eyes of a blind man and fed five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Is God no more with us today?
God is with us always. We need to keep our eyes on Him as a demonstration of complete submission to His will.
To reach your spiritual goal, do not expect to be treated fairly in this world. Bear in mind that people will say things that are not true about you. People will do hurtful things to you, attitudes you really do not deserve. In any case perceive these things as opportunities for you to ride on high in Spirit. Think about all the lies and false accusations levelled against the Messiah Jesus: he did not even bother to dispute them. His eyes were devotedly fixed on his goal, the will of God – the reason for his coming down to earth from heaven. Keep your focus on God; He loves you and is pleased to hear from you always. His way for you is peace and love which is richly poured into your heart by His Spirit.
Summarily brethren, let us bear in mind that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)
And finally:
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3: 20-21)
