A Great Healing

You Are a Healer (from Chapter 2- Helping Hands and Open Hearts) What if you knew you were a healer? What if you knew it in your soul? Would it change your life? Take a deep breath and really think about this. Contemplate it. Let it sink in. This idea of being a healer. Shouldn’t that be reserved for the deities of our world? Isn’t it only the gurus and spiritual masters that have the power to heal? No. It is not only the spiritual masters that have this power. You have it too. When you sit next to the elderly woman on the park bench and listen intently to her story of pain, you have become a healer. When you listen with kindness to the pain of a friend who is ill, you have become a healer. When you call your daughter to listen to her struggles with her boyfriends, you have become a healer. When you allow your mom to cry on your shoulder, you have become a healer. Healing occurs when we consider the lives of others. When we can embrace the reality of other’s struggles, we become their healer. This is what we are all looking for. We are looking for the compassion that flows from an open heart that is willing to give of itself. The power to heal is available to each of us. In this world we meet many people who are hurting and need a helping hand. These people are placed in our path to give us an opportunity to help heal them. Through the power of empathy, we unleash the beauty of our Creator. The act of kindness that you show is the power of your loving Creator. You become the hands, feet and heart of love in this world. There is a loving energy that is flowing through each of us. It’s waiting for an available person to flow through. When you become that available vessel, you become a healer. Your availability to this loving energy opens the chambers of your heart. The love from within will pour out into the heart of a hurting friend. This love will envelop your parent who needs a loving hand. This joy from your soul will surround the hurting souls in your life. The beautiful hearts that you are healing today will turn around and heal you when you need it. We all have days when we hurt. We all need a healer. People are healers for us, as much as we are for other people. As you go through your day today, I invite you to look at ways you can become the healer in someone else’s life. Even the simple act of listening becomes a way to love someone. Your love becomes a healing balm for their soul. You are a healer. One of the most beautiful ways you can become a healer is by reminding your friends and loved ones that they are perfectly fine the way they are. Your acceptance becomes a healing balm to their heart. Rather than fixing them, you have reminded them that they are loved. In this way you have helped to heal them. You are a healer. Thank you for being here. I appreciate you. Your love for me heals me. I pray that in some small way, this writing will be a healing balm for you, and that I have become a healer for you.
