Let’s Talk About Mindset
What is your mindset? What do you spend time telling yourself, or thinking about? Are your thoughts pushing you towards your goals or sending you spiraling in the opposite direction?
“Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it.” - Steve Maraboli
Steve Maraboli is one of my favorite authors to quote. Steve shares simple yet profound words of wisdom. If you are not familiar with Steve Maraboli, check him out.
Your mindset impacts much of what you do. You operate, move, and act based on what you believe to be your abilities and/or your limitations. The problem with that is much of what you believe, if you really think about it, was planted by someone else. As a child you grew up being told that you can’t do this, or you shouldn’t do that. Now of course some of it was for your safety, however some of it was based on the fear or insecurities of the person talking to you. You have to start discerning if what is being said to you, is in fact for you. How do you honestly feel about what someone is saying to you? More importantly, what are you saying to yourself? Are you telling yourself that you can’t, or you shouldn’t? If so, why? Do you really believe it? If so, why?
When you decide to take your power back and recognize that you have the ability to choose whether you believe you can or can’t, you will begin to see things changing. Your thoughts about where you are, are critical. Don’t allow the thoughts of others to trump your thoughts of yourself. Also, don’t allow the thoughts of others to influence the thoughts you have of yourself.
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.” - Wayne Dyer
