The energy, the heartbeat of the entire world shifted months ago, and will continue to shift for months, maybe even years to come. The fear that humankind is experiencing right now hasn’t been experienced in generations.
As I’ve learned how we are all connected, how we are all made of the same stuff as the stars and the moon, and the sun and the earth, it’s no wonder we strongly sense the energy of fear, anxiety, and chaos that our neighbors all across the globe are experiencing. We are all one. We come from the same Source, and one day we shall all return to the same Source. This realization is totally scary on a normal day and intensified when living through a global pandemic.
The earth vibrates. We, too, vibrate. When those who inhabit the world vibrate fear, we all feel it whether we are aware of it, or not. And if we aren’t in the habit of being self-aware, by sitting quietly in meditation or mindfully observing, we won’t have the ability to understand what’s going on inside ourselves when the world around us starts to fall apart. When that’s the case, we will vibrate fear, and this fear causes what we experience as stress, chaos, anxiety, worry, overwhelm, sadness, depressed mood, and so on.
Well, great. What can we do, because life is scary?
For starters, we can begin by developing a small practice of caring for ourselves. We can take a little walk. We can stand in a forward bend for a few seconds or a few minutes and let the ancient pose work its magic. We can put away our technology and play cards and boardgames with our loved ones. We can do all of the quiet, sweet, special things we were forced to do during the weeks of sheltering in place.
We can find or resurrect a hobby or talent, like writing poetry, painting, baking, biking, reading. We can sit outside, under a tree, and touch the ground beneath us with our bare hands and feet. We can feel the bright sun warming our face. We can hold out our arms and catch raindrops in our hands. We can laugh and jog and skip with our children. We can find joy in the smallest of things and peace in the subtlest of ways.
The thing is, we don’t need to try to do these things. We must do these things. In order to turn our personal collective of mind, body, and spirit toward the light, so in turn the collective of the world also turns toward the light, we must find a way to release the fear, let go of the constant chaos, busyness, and worry, so we can live in the light. So we can be the light. So we can spread joy and peace through the world. So we can elevate the vibration of the earth and of all humankind so they, too, radiate the very joy and peace we have become. To change ourselves and the world, we must choose to live in joy and peace for all eternity.
Yes, there will be moments, days filled with sadness, worry, anger, and chaos, we are human after all. But when we develop the habit of going within, becoming self-aware, when we truly know ourselves and can sense tension and tightness as it starts to take hold, our hearts can preemptively take charge of our minds and release the energy and emotions that do not serve us in any given moment.

It is my hope that you use this book and the writings inside to inspire your own journey from worry to serenity, from chaos to quiet contemplation.
While the pieces on fear may trigger sensations, discomfort, or ignite your own fears, they are intended to show you that you are not alone in this world. We all have fears, they are primal and shared by the collective.
When our fears meet their muse, we begin to move negative thoughts and emotions out of the mind, body, and spirit, and can see some light ahead. We find inklings of hope, desire, healing. We tap into our spirit and use our heart to speak to our scared, inner mind, coaxing it to calm, unwind, settle, and ground.
When we muse, we find joy. When we muse, we use the imagination to take us on journeys to the most beautiful places on earth. We dive into the depths of spirit and find our one true, pure self. We find meaning to life, meaning in a world filled with hate, despair, and chaos.
In prayer we greet the internal and external divine. We seek and receive guidance and forgiveness. We become comfortable in stillness and silence, because we know this is where we find answers to all of the big questions. In prayer, we expand like the universe and surrender to all that is.
When we practice, we pull ourselves back together. We find things that hurt, physically and emotionally, and with gentleness and grace we bring ourselves back to wholeness. We acknowledge all that we feel, in our bodies and our minds, and we release what is no longer serving us.
