About the Book
This book is a tribute to farmworkers. Specifically, it is an attempt to share with children from around the world the excellent work ethic of farmworkers. Farmworkers are among the most hardworking people. They enjoy their work and are proud of the work they do. Their stories need to be heard. This book highlights the joy of an excellent work ethic. Also, this book honors a small aspect of the lives of tens of thousands of farmworkers in California, USA.
About the Author
María L. Villagómez is the daughter of Mexican immigrants. She is the first in her family to graduate from high school and from college. She was born in Ventura, CA but was raised by her grandmother in Mexico. At age fourteen, she returned to the United States to continue her education. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Spanish with a concentration in literature, culture and culture and linguistics and holds a second Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. Currently, Ms. Villagómez is a Senior Academic Administrator at Napa Valley College in California, USA, but she has taught Spanish in higher education for over nineteen years. Ms. Villagómez has translated children’s books from English to Spanish and was the Spanish and Cultural Consultant to Universal Kid’s TV show Nina’s World.
