About the Book

This book is a combined study of genealogy, history, and literature. It is one family’s journey through every historical event that shaped Tishomingo County. Several generations settled in these beautiful rolling hills. Here they lived, worked, and raised their families. They all faced struggles, found things to love, and carved out a life for themselves. Old family stories bring these people to life. They have been passed by word of mouth through several generations. These fun stories will bring a smile to your face. It’s the fond memories that seem to be remembered, the most.

About the Author

A teller of stories, Betty Compton, lives in a small northeast Mississippi town near Pickwick Lake. A former kindergarten teacher, she knows how to use dramatic presentation to hold a reader’s attention. This author has penned two books in short story form. The first book, “Beauty Queen Angel “ gives intriguing accounts of spiritual phenomena. Each drawn from her own traumatic experiences. Her second book, “They Call Tishomingo County Home” uses old family tales to define her characters, and paint elaborate pictures of their lives. Compton’s grandmother sparked an interest in the past with stories of her youth. They triggered an imagination that still carries this author into other times and places. A student of genealogy and history, she loves historical preservation. Her true stories add validity to historical facts.
