About the Book

This story is about a little girl who doesn’t fit in and is not understood by her family, and so, being lonely, she makes friends with a cloud who teaches her about the middle way, the point between the opposites where everything comes together and is the same thing, where everything comes from and goes to. She learned that at those times when she felt lost, the middle would find her if she would just get quiet and wait. And at those times, it was dark only because she had her eyes closed and the darkness was something she made behind her eyes.

About the Author

The last in a family of seven children, Arlene Arden grew up in the small valley of Covelo in northern California, also known as Round Valley, an area richly populated with numerous American Indian tribes. As a child, she spent much of her time outdoors and considered the elements of nature her friends. Now, retired, she lives with her husband on the wild and beautiful Pacific Coast.
