'From the perspective of Mana Yoga, every aspect of our being, our physical and emotional bodies, spiritual self and psyche, has meaning, a higher purpose. Every breath, stretch and movement, strength and weakness, ache, pain or pleasure tells us something about why we are the way we are. Life is explainable. There is a biological and energetic reason for everything. We co-create our reality every day, in every moment, in every breath. And everything is governed by spirit. By divine source.
This style of yoga aims to draw attention to your natural ability for self-healing and self-responsibility, therefore giving you the power to face and solve your particular stories. It is a holistic, sustainable yoga practice, both personally and communally, one that nourishes you as an individual so you can then move out into the world to nourish the earth that supports you.
Every sequence infuses flavors of the spirit-based Japanese Oki-Do lineage derived from the combination of Japanese and Chinese diagnostic arts including Shiatsu, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Macrobiotics.
I have also woven many other teachings that have influenced my own yogic journey over the years to create quite an eclectic blend – from the platform of hatha yoga I have combined techniques from several modalities such as Bowen therapy, kinesiology and Reiki along with some elements of energetic ritual, shamanism and magic.
All these essences complement the postures and intentions of yoga beautifully, creating a unique and holistic series of potent seasonal practices that are unlike anything you will have ever tried on the mat. It is a innovative style, one that will quickly and profoundly transform your life. Mana yoga will explain you to YOU.
This book is a yogic toolkit, one that will help you recreate your reality and build personal power so you can more fluidly navigate the journey of life.
If a pattern can be understood, then it can be changed. It can be shifted, cleared and transformed into something useful, healthy and even strong. Healed.
Do you ever wonder why you recurrently keep catching colds in winter or how each spring that old knee injury resurfaces to bring any ideas of soft sand sprinting to an abrupt halt. Have you considered the effect that a seasonal and organic diet might have on not only your physical body, but your thoughts, feelings and how you engage with and relate to the world? Are you the sort of person who enquires, who delves into the deeper meanings of things and connects with their response-ability? Or do you hide from yourself and the world preferring to blame ‘them’, playing victim to the voices and patterns in your head and body?
All of us experience different challenges, situations and dramas, interspersed with moments of sheer bliss, wonder and appreciation during our lives, but how do you digest all of these ‘messages’, (signs or lessons if you prefer). How do you make sense of it all without collapsing or worse, disconnecting and switching off? Do you embrace life in all its’ forms and let it flow through you? Do you analyze, compartmentalize, put your guard up and prepare to battle for your share, your corner and what you believe serves you completely, because you believe Now is all we have?
Do you ignore every sign, every gift, every opportunity for change and growth because you literally aren’t aware they are even there?? Can you even see that you have a choice?
Well, there is no wrong or right. Everybody’s truth is valid.
I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we have in this life. Regardless of what your personal opinion is or your judgments are, we are all working through the same human shit! Nobody is better or lesser than anyone else, we are just operating on different planes of awareness. So what if we have different stories. Imagine how boring it would be if we all had the same one to tell!
All any of us have is NOW. This moment. And in this moment, there is absolutely nothing wrong. Or right. It just is, this moment. It’s what you choose to do with this moment that can radically and really, transform your life.
It’s the same within yoga – whether it’s asana, pranayama or during astral traveling meditation – it’s the moment that is the gift.
Yoga is a wonderful tool to help us access and heed these 'messages' from ourselves to ourselves. Asana is probably the most popular limb for most people as their introduction to yoga, but it doesn’t really matter how you come to yoga, as long as you come! Every message, every déjà vu shudder, every poignant dream or cathartic flash is a pure gift. These gifts offer us choice in every moment. They offer the opportunity for acknowledgment, resolve and peace. There is something you are doing, or not doing, consciously or subconsciously, that is re-creating cycles throughout your life. These ‘symptoms’ may manifest on the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level and are like wake up calls that help guide us towards self-awareness, self-acceptance, resolution and completion.
And in the end, none of it really matters anyway because this life is all just one big illusion, the manifestation of our thoughts, dreams, projections and expectations. When we let all that go and surrender to something bigger than ourselves, who or whatever that looks like, then we start to get it.
It aims to align your whole being so that you see, perceive, move and create from the best space possible.
Mana yoga uses specific postures and sequences that address your individual needs whilst reflecting the rhythms of nature - the time of day, the season and the environment/weather. Each pose is explained simply for its physical, emotional and psychological effect for relief from illness and pain, confusion and distortion. Healing, balance and strength are attainable.
It will help you discover and experience your true potential.
This is a holistic style of yoga, engaging all aspects of our daily lives - exercise, diet, thought and behavior. The dynamic combinations of Asana (postures and movements), Pranayama (breath work) and Energetics (energy manipulation), connects with every expression of our being - our structural body, our psyche and emotions - our practice becomes a code for living well. Living with a renewed sense of truth and responsibility towards ourselves and others.
Mana Yoga gives you power. The power to change your life.”
