Circle

[I am]
a beating heart
on a sun-warmed boulder
perched
on the shoreline
in circle
with companions
waiting on
nothing,
the waves crawling
up the sand
to kiss us,
the stones,
the aching hearts,
our chests
draped open
in ecstasy,
the feather tips
of our wings
caressing the sand
drenched by the sea,
breathed by the bubbles
waiting for a glimpse
of our lover-beloved,
the fish
returned to
shore.

Dove Fishing

Honey globes,
hot-air balloons
draped with jeweled ribbons,
cascading waterfalls tickled
by breath,
gold dust.
The residue
from shattered ornaments
floats across
my eye-sky.
I blink,
and the matrix
threads pull
hooks to catch
bubbles
rippling on the screen.
Which bait will lure a dove?
Heed the gold-winged cherub
tugging at your ankle,
inviting you
to sit
on the pillow
throne.

Fine

How do people live
with this much pain
in their hearts?
How can you look me in the eye and
tell me you are fine
when I ask "how are you?"
Do you not ache exquisitely
in each and every moment
of each waking hour
to return home
to the beloved creator?
Do you not feel this longing
like a scorpion
scampering inside your heart,
repeatedly stinging,
searing, scorching,
sending ice-cold fire
through your veins
to die?
To return to
union with the one.
What keeps you here?
How do you go about your day?
Do you not remember the
great love eternal?
Have you forgotten that completely?
Can you remind me
how to forget?
Will you burn
the palms of your hands
to hold this
torch of remembering
for one moment?

Sand

A child-calf
sits on the shore
adorned in jewels,
gold hair, skin, hooves,
sips honey-dew-drops
from tiny round bowls,
doll-sized tea cups,
handleless.

Rays from the sun,
fingers descend
to poke, prod, press
the form
moved by her
delight.
The wind moans.
Oh! To sit
perched
atop the shoulders
of brothers,
the grains of sand.

A flock
of white
cloud bison
summon
three wise men
from the east,
gold, frankincense, myrrh,
three prisoners in
carved alabaster jars
The child asks,
"Where is the camel?"

Honeydew

How can I show
how much I love
you?
How can I decorate
each moment
in your honor?

Gratitude,
slow, sensuous beads
of golden honey
strung like holiday lights
suspended in the air
by magic,
shimmering,
glistening,
aglow.

Surrender,
an offering,
my body
laying
soft belly down
in the earth-grave
covered with
holy soil,
the ones who
died
and returned
home.

Trust,
a mouse-child,
delicate, innocent,
her left hand
palm up,
her gaze
all wonder and awe,
waiting
on your
every breath, word,
gesture
to take hers.
