After we made a gas stop, Punch and I asked Daddy if we could sleep up on the mattresses that were on the ladder rack. I was surprised when he said yes, so Punch and I climbed up on the mattresses and lay back, watching the sunset. The sky was so beautiful. We lay with our hands folded beneath our heads, talking and having a grand time as Daddy drove down I-75 at seventy-five miles per hour. Then I saw blue lights come up behind us…..
