Love Is the Answer The traumatic events of The Cowboy & My Brush with Death are not ones that I would wish upon anyone—let alone myself. But I believe I experienced those events so I would forever know the TRUTH of how we create our lives with our thoughts. To show me I always have a choice in how I think and behave. That choice would determine the way I experienced any circumstance from that day forward. With a gun to my head, I organized my thoughts to return to the energy of love. I know, without a doubt, that returning to love is the answer, and I have spent my life learning how to make choices from love and teach others to do the same. In some ways it may be easier to recognize the importance of the quality of our thinking when we’re in dire straits. The stakes are high. We are laser focused. I find the real challenge is to organize the thinking when our own negative voices hold guns to our heads, which happens most days of our lives. That’s what makes the Soulsearch such a powerful tool for daily living. This book is not intended to simply give you an understanding of how your thoughts create your life; it is meant for you to develop a soul-searching practice that will change your experience and teach you how to create joyfully in all areas of your world. You’ll find a description of each type of thought; questions to unlock your wisdom; learning nuggets and examples; helpful prompts to evoke the types of thought; alerts of what to watch out for at each step; and exercises to put the process into practice so you can see how the Soulsearch will help you acquire the results your heart desires. Speaking of Your Heart’s Desire, I want to say a few things here about the dance between creating a Big Vision for Your Life and the Soulsearch as an everyday spiritual practice. This distinction is important to understand before you jump into the Soulsearch process. In the Start Here introduction, you read about the quest I have to make my life’s vision into a reality. Here’s what I know to be true: the big picture and the present moment are always in a dance. The vision pulls us forward as we create small pieces of it moment-to-moment. It is essential to have a vision for the big picture dreams of your life. A vision that has you expanding and growing into your highest self. A vision that has you impacting the world in a positive way. A vision that will take years to come to fruition and may take more than one lifetime to realize. There are many ways to create this type of vision and one way is to use the Soulsearch with a focus on creating a Big Picture Vision of your dream life. Then you move toward its creation by using the Soulsearch on a regular basis and perhaps, like other good habits, every day. As you move through the steps, it’s important to keep the Big Picture Vision in mind while you focus on what you are thinking and feeling in the present moment and circumstance. That’s why we recommend you take on the habit of using the Soulsearch as an everyday practice. Each day is different, and YOU are different each day in relation to the vision you have for your life. A vision is the North Star, and the Soulsearch is used to navigate the waters you are sailing today.
