Throughout the history, humanity expressed its social status through its appearance, as it was the most common and fastest silent communicator. In ancient Greece, nobles wore layers of the brightly colored garments to show their wealth and the lower class citizens wore only one to two layers of the minimally processed neutral color linen garments. Yet, centuries later, using the bright colors in the wardrobe among the elite circles, became a “a bad taste” or a low class “kitsch”; it also suggested that you are an outsider. With time, bright colors in western world became associated with the “fast fashion” which means a poor quality. Yet again, that association is relatively recent and ever changing. I believe that in the future our world once again will begin to incorporate the vivid colors into their style and will use them in a whole different way – I do!

About the Book
Like in everything else, our appearance begins with our intent; the keys to success here is what, why and how we wear “things”. We have to understand and apply the basic universal law: “we become a part of what we consume.” My take on that “we also become a part of what we wear... and what we wear becomes a part of us.” In this new millennia, a clear comprehension of this law is essential for humanity in order to transition to a higher state of living. When we become conscious consumers, we consequently and naturally will change our life. I always ask my family, friends, fans, audience, etc. to become thoughtful of what they wrap their bodies into. Fabrics, materials, shapes, colors, and textures are capable to influence us and redirect our thoughts – and these might not be some minor life alterations... Yet, just wearing some colorful clothes is not enough – you have to know how to LIVE it – that's where I come-in.
About the Author
Valeria von Leczycki A. Goncharova Barrett (a.k.a. Valeria Goncharova Barrett) is an award-winning Belarus-born American fashion and costume designer, known in Hollywood for her unique and colorful personal style. She is an academically trained visual artist who embarked into her professional journey three decades ago. Her groundbreaking fusion of conscious lifestyle, futuristic designs and metaphysically charged artworks were still an uncharted territories in San Francisco and New York when she moved from her native Belarus in early 90’s. One decade later, she was critically acclaimed as one of the new creatives to watch for been “ahead of her time.” Valeria is the founder and publisher of the conscious fashion and holistic lifestyle publication, Fashion Consciousness Magazine. As the arts educator she mentors the young artists and promotes the advancement of the fine arts in local communities of Los Angeles metropolitan area and beyond. As a visual artist she works in her favorite mediums of pastels, charcoals, pencils, acrylic and watercolor. Valeria holds the Visual Arts and Design credentials from Harvard University and Parsons School of Design, as well as the City University of New York, Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, and Russian Novgorod Art College.
