Honey! I Shrunk the Tumor

Introduction

For many, the most distressing aspect of their journey through breast cancer is the waiting: for action, be it diagnosis, biopsy results, or a plan of treatment. Taking the position of one who waits is feeling powerless. There is nothing one can do to hasten the wheels of the powers that be. The only alleviating factor for me during my passage was the input of friends, all of whom knew of someone who had been through the demanding cancer labyrinth and who had survived and even thrived. Their stories were welcomed and inspiring and hopeful. Often, I was presented with reading material that served the intended purpose – to ease anxiety. One story was about a woman who actually made her tumor disappear!

Believing, as I do, that everything happens for a reason, I decided to use the infuriating “wait time” to my advantage. I would experiment with the various theories and treatments I was being exposed to and, if they were successful, I would share the teachings with others on a similar journey. My wait time would become my healing time.

There are those who claim to have had 100% remission of their breast cancer through alternative methods. This is not my claim. I urge you to try some self-healing for the effects of mitigating symptoms, maintaining positive thinking and well-being. The feeling of achieving some level of control can be a deliberate support during a difficult time. The information contained in this little book is for educational purposes and is provided as general information for you to use as you feel comfortable. It is not a scholarly treatise, after all, just a Digest of the research that is currently being done – a menu of options to choose from. This is an easy reference for you to pause and consider holistic options that best suit your lifestyle. Perhaps too, there is a gentle push to consider lifestyle changes that had not crossed your mind.

Some of these techniques may become lifelong habits and add to your quality of life. Your positive mental attitude will also have a calming effect on your loved ones who are also expressing frustrations, fear and delay. Dietary changes, proven to be cancer-preventing will assure optimal health and anti-aging – and who doesn’t want that? Exercise will give added and necessary energy and strength. Both are prescribed for prevention of recurrence. Deep breathing and meditation will get you through so many of life’s complications and rough spots and give every day an added dimension of inner peace and well-being.

I offer these findings in hopes that you, too, my fellow traveler, may find, at the least, comfort and, at best, some reversal of this DIS-ease that has taken residence in your perfect body.
