Cleansing Tears Needed
In this forbidden place; where ever it maybe.
I saw my soul.
I had to let go at that moment of all that I knew.
No reference point here
No coordinates to lead my way
My soul; breathe deeply, take a deep breath;
I saw reality, it terrified me.
I closed my eyes
Letting the silent, dry tears fall
Dry tears do not wash the sight away
These tears a reaction now familiar to what I had seen
These dry, silent tears do not clean away the sorrow of this forbidden vision
Pray, I find my sight again.

About the Book
Listening, I heard Veteran’s speak of the soul work that transformed them. The poems are merely glimpses into a life that cannot be known unless it is lived. The experiences of these brave men and women must be listened to as they hold the key to change, growth and most importantly a level of knowing life that will not be known by many. To survive their experiences and, still, keep their bag and boots ready at the front door for duty may call; characterizes the human spirit forged by powerful life experiences.
About the Author
The author’s gift is the third ear and her prose is a culmination of what she heard the Veteran’s saying; how they lived and continue to live. The changes heard from deep within them don’t make the news. Moreover, images of their experiences as seen through the eyes of a nurse/social worker, a fellow human being who has struggled with life’s darker side when we sign up to care, protect and serve others; one changes. With forty-four years of services to others this does not begin to elucidate what our Veterans have experienced. Listening, one hears their voices. It is the quiet, powerful voice of Courage. Read the prose captured on the pages of this book and you shall hear their voices also.
