I was going to paint a rainbow, but it went all wrong instead.
It blended to an ugly brown and I got it on my head.
How the next thing happened I don’t quite know.
I had my shoes on- but got paint on every toe.
I got it all up my arms. I was a spectacular sight,
I looked like a walking painting giving my art teacher a fright.
She told me to wash it off, hurry and be fast.
But with only one sink I was late for class
My teacher scolded me as I crept through the door.
And even more when she saw the paint trail across the floor,
I tried to explain what happened, but she couldn’t understand.
How something like painting a rainbow could get so out of hand.
