Unicameralism

While accepting that the story was over and the trail was a dead-end, I still had unsettling thoughts of how it all came about. How was it that no-one would stand up for what I believed to be a simple claim, to have my invested funds accounted for, legally? Moneys owed from trust acknowledged; then returned in full by order of the Court. It is the written law. It is the only outcome that could be deemed as just.

I wondered what drove the establishment into denial, and how individuals had the power to dismiss a legitimate case. How could the Quakerville legal system refute my pleadings and not act in accordance with their written laws?

“Unfortunately”; the reply I had received on a few occasions is not a legal determination, nor concise order of a legal proceeding. “Unfortunately”, used in their context to me is a cop-out. A term used to excuse individuals of their responsibility.

Still, the nagging question; how do the authorities get away with such a contemptuous white-wash?

The writer now believes the answer lies within the structure of the Unicameralism state government; a term that is relatively new to me, a word that literally means, ‘with one legislative chamber’. I have previously made comment that I believed Quakerville to be a rogue state, having ‘selective’ alliance to the Auschwitzerland Constitution and ‘unicameralism’ was the reason for the Quakerville State’s lack of adherence to the Constitution.

Quakerville is the only state that does not have an upper House which allows the state’s Premier to censure the whole of Parliament. It provides an unruly avenue for one individual to push bills through Parliament with little or no debate, annihilating opposition, undemocratically.

Unicameralism at its inception had that intention. The then Premier, Theo Patterson, in 1916, had yet another rejection by the Legislative Council of a Bill to increase pastoral rent, which triggered his push to legislate and have the upper House abolished in 1917. Incredulous that one man could stack the numbers of the House that had been duly elected; then have the Members vote themselves out. Thereafter, Quakerville has been robbed of true democracy; opposition, the checks and balances of an Upper House.

Having only one Chamber robs the Quakerville People of checks and balances provided by an upper Chamber which by constitution allows for freedom of speech and democratic convention to govern “fairly” for its constituents; even the village idiot is to be treated fairly.

I realized too, that this was how John Petersen and ORS were able to wield their personal power and create what the author calls a “Police State”.
