Harley felt a thrill of curiosity. "All right," he finally agreed. "I'll join you, but I can't stay long." Harley and Perl entered the shimmering water quietly, moving gracefully. They swam side by side as the moonlight filtered through the surface. After covering a considerable distance, Perl gestured towards a towering rock wall, its surface rough and jagged. "We're going to dive through a tunnel beneath the water," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Can you hold your breath?" Harley glanced at her, a flicker of apprehension in his emerald eyes, as he replied, "It depends on how long the tunnel is." "Not too long," she smiled reassuringly; her voice laced with warmth that eased his uncertainties. "There's another way if you prefer. It's on the far side of the island." Harley pondered for a moment, his heart quickening with both excitement and trepidation, then said, "Let's go through the tunnel." "Follow me," Perl instructed, her tone unwavering and confident. Diving deep into the moonlet's water, they swam underwater for about four minutes when Harley signalled to Perl that he needed to swim up for air. She swam gracefully, closing the distance between them. She pressed her lips to his in a sensual kiss, filling his lungs with much-needed air. A few minutes later, they were through the tunnel. Harley swam up and broke the surface, gasping for breath. The breathtaking beauty around him momentarily blinded him. The water was phosphorescent, illuminating Perl's body as she swam gracefully beneath the surface. He could hardly believe his eyes; nestled within the ancient, dormant volcano was a vibrant scene that felt out of this world. Campfires flickered like a scattering of stars across the sandy beaches, their dancing flames casting a warm glow that embraced the towering rock walls surrounding them. Harley's heart raced as he took in the sight of thousands of young water people from every corner of the archipelago. Their laughter and excitement mingled with the night air, creating a melody of joy that resonated deeply within him. Perl led Harley through the lively gathering around a massive bonfire, its flames leaping high into the sky, illuminating the eager faces around it. The group buzzed with infectious energy, all eyes turning to Harley. Perl began, her eyes twinkling like the stars above, gesturing towards the animated group encircling the fire. "This is Gail, Windy, and Ray," she said with a bright smile, her voice bubbling with excitement as she eagerly introduced her friends.

About the Book
The story follows a fifteen-year-old boy, Harley, and his dad as they embark on an adventurous fishing trip, an idea Harley's mom suggested to help them bond. They set out for Dad's favourite fishing spot, located just over the horizon on a distant island, where their journey begins.
On the very first night, a powerful storm drags their anchor into a mysterious, hidden archipelago. Deciding to explore a remote island, Harley discovers a house with fruit trees teeming with life in the backyard. He picks some apples for his dad and then heads down to the beach. Harley discovers a toddler playing in the water. When she spots him, she quickly dives beneath the surface. Later, he finds a severely injured man lying in a bed in the house and calls his father, a sergeant. He arrives and tends to the man's injured arm.
Harley finds Breezy, the toddler, sleeping beside the injured man, and they quickly become friends. Breezy then introduces Dad and Harley to the Water People, inhabitants of the archipelago. They soon realise Breezy is not one of them and wonder how she came to the island. Clam shares the story of a shipwreck where older folk were on a luxurious trip around the world when they struck a reef on a stormy night. He explains how the four crow men salvaged timber from the wreck and built these houses on the island for the survivors.
