The cheeky little monkey sat by me When he should have been swinging in the tree His mother called him over And said, “Now listen here, Rover. You’re supposed to be learning how to swing And I don’t think you’ve learnt a thing.” The little monkey ran away Again he sat by me and wanted to play “Go back to your mother,” I said. “Or you’ll never be fed.” He was after my banana you see He leant forward and grabbed it Right in front of me. I couldn’t believe it This cheeky little monkey I went to grab him, but he threw the skin at me “You naughty little monkey,” I said to it. “Go off and find your mother. I’ve had it with you! Stealing my banana when you could’ve asked me! Off you go, while I count to three.” Off he ran as fast as he could Straight into his mother’s arms I was so cross with that cheeky little monkey But really to tell you the truth I was very happy that he came to play with me! _______________________________________
