Interrupting your reality reinforcement loop
In an energy context, life is one big reinforcement loop. It is the reinforcement of your power base. Whatever your power base holds, that is what is reflected back to you in your reality. For example, if you hold a lot of anger your reality may reflect that to you in some very harsh ways. This could be through a physical ailment like a raging headache, you may end up having an argument at work or at home, or at worst be involved in a mishap or accident. In those moments it feels like the world is conspiring against you. Consider the messages that are sent out by your power base. The world answers these calls to perfection.
Calls such as ‘I am not allowed to have more than my share’, ‘I can’t trust others’, ‘I can’t swim’, ‘I’m not athletic’. When in a positive state – ‘I am able to do anything that is thrown to me’, ‘I am an individual’, ‘I am smart’, ‘I love this stuff’ are all beliefs you will hold and in your reality these will be reflected back to you.
Other writers have referred to this concept as cause and effect. In an energetic context I prefer ‘intention and creation’. It is still a reinforcement loop however when many people talk about living at Cause, it often has the implication that you can control all of your outcomes. An energetic awareness has you realise that many things are borne from your subconscious. You aren’t always consciously responsible for the results you create. You don’t know what you don’t know. So your focus at all times should be on uncovering your energetic intentions.

By becoming aware of the reality reinforcement loop you will also become aware that within your sphere you have the ability to choose in all moments your reactions and what to do next. By realising this you allow yourself to ‘take a breath’.
You always have and always will have the space to make choices in regard to your own life. Imagine that in every moment you arrive at a crossroad. If you are disempowered you don’t see these crossroads you just keep running straight ahead, straining and tiring yourself out. If you take a moment of pause and understand that you are making choices all of the time about what to do next, about how to react, you will be able to slow down and see these crossroads. By pausing at these signs you are freed from the restraints you think exist. All of the restraints you are feeling right now are placed there only by you, not anyone else. Remember, the reinforcement loop?
The wonderful truth to your life is that you can change your reality in any moment. After all you are currently creating it.
By becoming centred in your own energy sphere you create a gap where you may choose to react differently or take a different tack for a different result. The way to retain more power is to bring your awareness to where in the energy spectrum you are at any moment and this will bring your attention to your behaviours and what dynamics you are playing out.
Energetic intention
Every action you take and every thought you have contains energy. You place an energetic intention behind everything you do, in some instances consciously and in others unconsciously. As you become aware of the energetic intentions you place behind actions, thoughts and words, you begin to clearly see those of others. I often hear the energetic intention behind words. I witness the energetic intention behind actions where people are showing their belief systems to all around them. When an energetic intention aligns, whether it be positive or negative, words and actions become powerful.
That is when you begin to understand that actions speak louder than words and energetic intention resounds like a sonic boom!! That is the power of alignment. Where there is non-alignment, where the words spoken do not match the energy behind them the energetic mis-match is also apparent. Do you do everything you say you will do? Does what you say and what you do line up?
Listening to what you say will tell you some of your beliefs. Your actions will also show you. Sometimes you may say things that others challenge as they may be highlighting to you where there is non-alignment. If you have a strong emotional reaction when challenged by someone else, begin to question yourself as to why.
If your current way of doing something or interacting with someone isn’t working out for either of you then it is time to become aware of your energetic intentions. It is not about your behaviour but what drives that behaviour which is the power area in which to focus. You may already know the definition of insanity: doing the same thing and expecting a different result? Many people think that by modifying your action then a different result will ensue. However, as it is your energetic intention and subconscious beliefs that are the power source, trying to address your actions won’t yield any sustainable results. Becoming aware of the energy you are investing in the action will allow you to reveal the belief which is creating the undesirable result. Change the belief, change your reality. By working on raising more of your subconscious beliefs to the surface and working with them, you begin to align your intent to the action. This is like removing a kink out of the garden hose so the water can flow freely.
Now if you aren’t getting the results that you want, there is more than likely a subconscious belief overriding your conscious action. So the journey remains thus: to keep raising your self-awareness so you become conscious of your previously unconscious intentions. Over time they do percolate to the surface at the time you are meant to deal with them, never sooner, never later. Thus Mother Teresa’s quote “I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much.”
On an energetic level shifting your energetic intention and subsequently breaking reinforcement loops means creating a different vibration for yourself. This will change your reality, attracting to you different people and circumstances. But remember I’m not talking about action, as in doing something different, but in being someone different – someone who is aligned with the ‘real’ you. With the awareness we have now, if you change your subconscious belief systems as they rise to the surface, then your reality will change and significantly. This will be a sustainable change.
If you ever feel ‘stuck’ or caught in a hamster wheel of repeating patterns remember that this is simply a challenge. If you are struggling to come up for air due to a heightened emotional state, take a time out. Choose to disentangle the emotion around the situation so you can clearly see choices that are in front of you. Centre yourself and you will become unattached to the outcome. Being unattached is not to shut down and block out any emotions you feel. It means you will have no attachment to the outcome and will accept any outcome good or bad.
Becoming more of an observer of your own life
As you become present to the energy dimension that exists you will discover the power that playing the role of an ‘observer’ has. Eckhart Tolle introduced this concept in his book ‘The Power of Now’. Through meditation and mindfulness practices you develop the ability to take an objective perspective and helicopter view of your life. This is extremely powerful and rewarding.
