About the Book

Coming Home to Yourself is a gentle invitation for anyone who has lived through hard seasons and is trying to believe in life again. Through deep personal reflections on grief, recovery, identity, family, humor, rest, and ordinary comfort, Rocco Vallerand writes about what it means to begin again when life has not gone the way we expected. This is a book for those who have spent years surviving, caring for others, carrying old grief, or waiting until everything is perfect before allowing themselves peace. At its heart, Coming Home to Yourself is about permission. Permission to rest. Permission to laugh. Permission to want more than survival. Permission to be happy, even if life has been painful. Permission to build warmth before everything is fixed. Permission to begin again without shame. With honesty, tenderness, and quiet hope, this book reminds readers that healing does not always arrive dramatically. Sometimes it begins in small, ordinary ways — a cup of tea, a candle lit on an ordinary night, a boundary finally spoken, a laugh that returns, a softer way of speaking to yourself. For anyone learning to stop postponing joy, stop abandoning themselves, and start living as though they are worthy of gentleness now, Coming Home to Yourself offers a warm reminder: You are allowed to be okay again. You are allowed to come home.

About the Author

Rocco Vallerand is a writer, speaker, advocate, and lifelong believer in the healing power of gentleness, humor, and beginning again. A transgender man, ordained non-denominational minister, licensed end-of-life doula, former addictions counselor, and founder of The Support Alliance for Fairness and Equity for Transgender Youth, Rocco has spent much of his life walking beside people through grief, recovery, identity, change, and survival. His work is rooted in compassion, lived experience, and the belief that ordinary comfort can become sacred at any stage of life. Through his writing, advocacy, and community work, he offers hope to those who are ready to stop waiting for permission, return to themselves with honesty and tenderness, and begin creating a life that feels warmer, truer, and more their own. Rocco lives in the Rochester, New York area with his wife, their grown children, and four cats. He continues to write, create, laugh loudly, drink tea, and build spaces of warmth for those learning to come home to themselves.
