On December 21, 2012, at about 5:30 a.m. (EST), the veil was very, very thin. I decided to be outside in the quiet of the dark early morning, where surprisingly, I physically met my son! I could feel him in the air nearby. Then shortly afterward, I heard a voice say, “I am right behind you.” Instinctively, I turned my palms backward behind me and touched an energy field of high vibration, which reverberated throughout my body. My physical body was electrified. I knew this energy-being was Micah, and he knew I knew. I anchored my feet firmly on the earth, grounding myself so I could maintain this vibrational connection longer. I felt his deep, unconditional love for me as our forms melded together. I was astounded at his efforts to ensure that we met and “hugged” in this manner before he moved on to his next soul mission. Everything I had missed about doing or having with him during our physical life, I experienced in an instant—sleepovers, driver’s ed, prom, college graduation, birthdays, family vacations, holidays, sharing in his children’s lives, normalcy, happiness, joy—all melded together in a kaleidoscope of sight and immense feeling, as if desired past events and hoped-for future events blended into us in this infinitesimal moment in time.

About the Book
This is the story of a hero’s journey—of dark and light, addiction and recovery, life and death and the afterlife. It is a story of sorrow and redemption, the bond between a mother and son, and the legacy of addiction that they heal together after her son crosses to the “other side.”
The Hero in Heroin is Mindy Miralia’s honest telling of her life as an international businesswoman who constantly strove to be the best parent possible despite her family’s constant uprooting from one part of the globe to another—moves that were demanded by work. And although his childhood was filled with love, by the time her son was fifteen, Micah was hooked on drugs. He eventually succumbed to the lure of deadly heroin.
When Micah committed suicide at age 31, his soul was aware that it had not finished its work. Returning to his mother in spirit form, he brought home the hero’s “treasure,” working to help her heal and to help society reconnect with the spiritual aspects of the human condition.
