About the Book

These are reflections about the use of words and how they impact our lives. When I was in college, I had a very gifted professor who stated that you can say what you want to say in a sentence with the least amount of words and have it make a world of sense. You can feel and understand the meaning without a lot of verbiage. She wrote her exact words on one of my long-winded, many-paged papers: “Trop touffu”—too dense, too many trees in the forest, too many leaves on the tree, or . . . you get the gist. I could have said and written in sentences of five words or less. Well, I used a few more words than five in a sentence. These are my thoughts and experiences; some, not so original, I suspect, but just as they came through me to share.

About the Author

Harriette was born, raised and educated in Santa Monica, California. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Monica College, she joined the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam Era. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, she attended California State University, Northridge, majoring in Theatre Arts and Languages. On the Dean’s list in her first year, she was presented with the opportunity to study in the Junior Year Abroad program for the California State Universities, where she attended the Institut Pour Les Étrangers in Aix-en-Provence, France. After returning home, she continued her studies in Theatre Arts, but completed her B.A. and M.A. in French with a minor in Spanish. She was offered a position at the French Consulate of Los Angeles, where she continued to hone her abilities of speaking, interpreting and translating French. She also was a member of a local Theatre company in Hollywood, California. For her spiritual studies, she attended the Johnnie Coleman Institute in Chicago, where after intensive studies, she was certified as a teacher in the New Thought Christian tradition, and taught at the Los Angeles based Understanding Principles for Better Living Church, where The Reverend Dr. Della Reese Lett was the minister/founder. Although was raised in a very religious family, she credits her studies in New Thought as the basis for her current spiritual quest, where continuing her spiritual growth is paramount. She sees all spiritual traditions as part of a unified search for Truth.
