CONVERSATION WITH PROFESSIONALS
A couple of years ago while I was in the field selling medical software, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Florence Foucauld, MD, Board Certified in Family Medicine. I have to say that she’s one of the nicest people to talk to; she’s friendly, kind, and amiable. When I told her I was writing a book on how to improve your health and finances, she was open to the idea and even found some time in her busy schedule to answer my questions.
Throughout your practice, what are the biggest mistakes your patients make?
As a doctor it’s important not only to consult my patients but also to give them the proper attention and time necessary in order to help them with whatever problems or situation they are facing.
The biggest mistake I see in some patients is that they come to me for the “magic pill”. They expect a quick fix or a quick turnover to temporarily resolve their diseases. As you may know, a pill may in the short term, solve their problem; but understanding lifestyle changes should be a goal for their well being which will permanently solve their medical issues.
Most of my patients come to visit me for poor nutrition related topics. I get a lot of patients with chronic diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes.
In your years of experience as a doctor, what is the unforgettable client and story?
There was a patient of mine who was literally stuck in the past. When she was a kid she had been verbally abused by her parents and she couldn't move on with her life. All the negative words that were said by her parents, stayed with her while growing up. In the process she lost her self-esteem, confidence, and drive. Now she’s obese and she’s trying to lose weight. But until she crosses that mental barrier, until she makes peace with her childhood and seeks moral support from family members, she will not be able to move on and manage her weight properly.
What are the two biggest suggestions that you recommend to your patients in order to improve their health?
The number one suggestion to improve your health is restriction of calorie intake. People have a hard time with that, because they fail to acknowledge that as you get older, your body burns fewer calories. Therefore you need to adjust your eating habits and eat less as you get older. In the health field this is known as "Caloric Restriction":
My second suggestion is to find a way to manage stress properly. Stress is a killer. It affects your entire health and damages your body. Sleeping well, lifestyle changes, and exercising on a frequent basis are good ways to manage stress.

Dr. Gustaveous Geiger is my chiropractor and a dear personal friend of mine and I can tell you that he has with a lot of experience and wisdom. When I have personal or health-related problems, I speak with him and he always has good answers. Not only is he a great doctor, but he’s also a mentor filled with valuable experiences. When I mentioned to him that I would be writing a book, he was more than happy to help.
Throughout your practice, what are the biggest mistakes your patients make?
The biggest mistake I see all patients make is turning over responsibility for their health to the medical providers. Health care professionals can assist you in managing your health, but if you want to avoid being a victim of the health care system it is incumbent that you educate yourself about maintaining and sustaining your overall health. Our so called “health care system” is in fact a sickness system and they want to keep it that way. A system that thrives and relies on our ignorance. If I could snap my fingers and instantly we (including myself) were all disciplined to eat properly, get regular exercise and feed our minds with positive uplifting information, we would put minimally 70% of the doctors out of their traditional treatment patterns.
In your years of experience as a doctor what is the unforgettable client and story?
I don't have a singular amazing event that stands out in my mind, although there have been many special experiences. The most amazing event for me when adjusting a patient is when they realize that the body is a self-healing organism and it’s capable of normalizing without the use of drugs. Now, please don't misinterpret what I am saying; there is a time and place for both drugs and surgery. But in our society, the driving force for both of those is not the patients overall health and well being. It’s money. The big pharmaceutical companies run the show and anyone who dares get in their path, beware.
What are the two biggest suggestions that you will recommend to your patients in order to improve their health.
Consult with a competent alternative health and wellness provider, which includes many medical physicians. Take responsibility for your health by avoiding the SAD (Standard American Diet) of processed/fast foods, finding a reliable source for healthy food/nutrition and committing to a regular exercise program. If you are not willing to do these things, you place yourself at the mercy of the sickness care system as we know it.
