Kai Rivers—Staying Alive

“Oh, no. It’s hunting!” Inside the SSS Jurassic Laser Tag facility, the velociraptor moves a foot preparing his attack. As he strikes with his knife-like teeth at Penelope, she sausage rolls out from under the wall and behind a fake bush, terrified to breathe. The velociraptor approaches her menacingly. Suddenly, Professor Thomas believing it is a virtual dinosaur suddenly jumps out like a super hero, chest proud and gun pointed, she screams, “Big bully, die!” And she points her laser gun at the real dinosaur intending to ‘take him out.’ She shoots three times nervously and then quickly turns on her heels, does her little chicken/nana-nana-poo-poo-you-can’t-catch-me dance, and runs off screaming like a little girl, in a whirl of giggles. Penelope watches as the real monster raises its head and smells the air. She hopes it has forgotten about her and she takes off running. But the beast quickly charges after her. With every pounding footstep, the room shakes. It knocks a tree to the ground and Penelope falls, too. She cowers now, crying. The velociraptor bounds toward her whimpering form, and just as he would rip her to pieces...
