Fantastic book!! Couldn't put it down. Such insight into how fear can drive us. The book informs us how we can learn to shape our thinking and can interrupt our own destructive thoughts and move forward in a positive direction. I felt like the book was talking directly to me. Wonderful metaphors created beautiful art work with words! What a gifted first time author. Can't wait to read more by Sheila! :):)

Loved this book so much, I bought five copies for gifts. It was a scary, wonderful, brilliant journey that speaks to all of us that have allowed fear and regret to hold us back and rule our life. My fears and false "truths" were exposed with each chapter, then armed me to be the real, BEST version of myself. The story and illustrations were mesmerizing.

Every now and then a book is published that really is a gem. Journey Back To Me is a one of those rare gems. Through story, it explores how you create the experience of living. It encompasses Syd Banks work with Shamanic healing and transformational education. As I read this book, I explored my own internal stories of how I create life. Through the story line, I was able to see parallels in my own life. This is a great book for those who tire of ‘how to’ books with X number of steps for growth. As you read this book, notice how your life compares and begin to understand how you have created your life. Transformation occurs when your life shifts. This book provides a great platform through a non-traditional way to see your life and shift! The next thing for the author would be to create a workbook to do along side of reading. It is an easy read, yet time spend in reflection will deepen the impact of the book.

There’s a lot to like about “Journey Back to Me” and about Liza, its main character. I found Liza’s journey back to herself to be intriguing in its imaginative presentation. The word pictures are well drawn and seem to fit the concepts they illustrate, and of course the actual illustrations provide some seasoning too. Bubbles, smoke wisps, a “worry coaster,” a mountain of lies: all evoke emotions and thoughts that are common but that are made more interesting with these characterizations. And of course the idea of a journey through someone’s mind is enhanced by description of actual physical movement and mapping that are part of the journey. As I read, I wanted good things for Liza, and the fact that SD Ferguson made me feel for her character is an indication of the quality of her writing (as well as a statement about the degree to which I could relate to Liza’s challenges). Moreover, it’s also an indication that Ferguson’s subject is broad enough to appeal to discussion groups, which might find useful the definitions and questions that are included at the end of the book.

Fantastic! Change is difficult, and change at the level of the subconscious mind is the most difficult of all and the key to lasting change and happiness. Journey Back To Me takes the reader on a journey through the subconscious mind of the protagonist, Liza, guided by none other than Liza's own wise and kind inner-self. The story turns out to be a page-turner and a highly original way to present difficult concepts in a very easy to understand and absorb format. The lessons Liza learns on her journey prove invaluable to the reader. I loved this book and read it straight through in one go. Now I plan to read it again more slowly. Enjoy!

This little book is so special! For me, it was not only a captivating and thought-provoking read, but I was blown away by how Ferguson creatively addresses so many of the often-difficult-to-grasp concepts I teach in my equine-assisted learning business (www.unbridled.guru). Interacting with horses offers people the rare opportunity to experience what it FEELS LIKE to live fully in the present moment, to clearly see how negative thought and behavior patterns are affecting the relationships in our lives, and to understand what it means to truly love ourselves and take care of ourselves in all situations. Through the use of wonderfully imaginative metaphors combined with simple but powerful images, Ferguson accomplishes what no other “self-help” book I’ve read ever has: she actually helps the reader EXPERIENCE what the negative thought patterns in our lives, as well as the healthier alternatives, feel like. I’m so excited to have discovered this book so I can recommend it to my clients as a fun way to reinforce the concepts they touch on in their sessions with me and the horses!
