Humanity uses labels for everything. This is out of a need to classify information for easy assimilation and used to understand similarities and differences in culture, personalities, and basic human needs. This is not a negative technique but rather can be used negatively to cause stereotyping, expectations, judgements, prejudices, and subsequent trauma resulting in this feeling of separation from each other - this concept of “I’m over here and you’re over there”. This causes a two-fold problem within humanity. First, we begin treating each other based on our labeling and social conditioning, teaching our children to do the same. The result is the perpetuation of a never-ending cycle of assumptions and judgements that in essence do not exist and drastically minimizes the hope of any course correction. Second, labeling causes a short circuiting, if you will, between who we think we are supposed to be and who we genuinely are, generating a constant internal conflict that causes an identity crisis.
