At Balboa Press, we love our authors and care about their publishing experience. Balboa Press complaints are far and few between, but are always handled in a timely-manner with care and professionalism. We pride ourselves on customer service and providing quality services to our authors. As a BBB-Accredited business, we have helped nearly 2,000 authors publish their books.

Balboa Press Complaints and Questions Answered
We receive many questions from our authors about how royalties work and we take these questions very seriously. Royalties are paid on a quarterly basis (four times a year), once your royalty earnings have reached $75.00 or more, as is described in our author publishing agreement. If you choose to receive royalty payments via direct deposit instead of a check, then the $75.00 threshold is not required. Since Balboa Press does not buy the rights to the books we publish, we do not pay an advance. Royalties are based on the payments we actually receive from the sale of books. Sales Figures and Reporting
Balboa Press authors are able to view their sales records in the Sales and Royalties section of My Center. We provide two reports: quarterly reports and monthly reports. Quarterly sales reports are provided four times per year in coordination with royalty payments and reflect the final, audited sales numbers. It takes a little time for external retailers to report sales information to us, so it is not updated in real time and may take up to 60 days after the close of the royalty quarter for sales information to be posted to My Center. Your monthly sales reports are updated monthly, with approximately a one and a half to two month lag before you will see it in your account.

Association with Hay House
Balboa Press is a division of Hay House Inc., and this relationship offers unique opportunities to our authors. While Hay House cannot pick up every Balboa Press title, they do regularly review Balboa Press titles for possible acquisition. So far, Hay House has acquired the following Balboa Press titles:
Balboa Press’ association with Hay House also makes it possible for us to offer exclusive services and special promotions to our authors that are not available through any other self-publisher. We have hosted nonfiction writing contests where the grand prize winners receive a publishing contract with Hay House Insights. Throughout the year, Balboa Press offers the chance for authors to promote their book at Hay House I Can Do It! events. Our authors can hold a book signing, showcase their book in the Balboa Press Book Gallery, or sell it in the Balboa Press Bookstore at these Hay House events.
