Balboa Press History

Balboa Press was founded in 2010 as a division of Hay House, Inc. By starting Balboa Press, Hay House founder Louise Hay opened the door for more authors to publish books that make a difference in our world. Due to the competitive nature of the publishing industry, only a select number of titles can be supported each year through the Hay House's traditional model. However, with the launch of Balboa Press, more and more authors are empowered to reach their goals and aspirations of publishing books that will in turn help others and our planet Earth.

Louise Hay knows a thing or two about self-help and successful self-publishing. Hay established herself as a leader in the self-help movement as well as the indie-publishing revolution when she self-published her first two books, Heal Your Body and You Can Heal Your Life under a Hay House imprint. Both titles became international bestsellers, in fact, You Can Heal Your Life has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.

In 1987, Louise Hay expanded the self-publishing imprint used to publish her first two books into a full-scale traditional publishing company. Today, Hay House is one of the fastest-growing self-help and transformational publishers in the world, selling products to more than 35 countries around the world. Hay House is a medium-sized publishing house but attracts big-name authors, including  Diane Ladd,  Ben Stein, Suze Orman, Carnie Wilson, Sylvia Browne, Montel Williams, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra and Tavis Smiley. What began as a small venture in her living room has turned into a prosperous corporation that has sold millions of books worldwide.
